Excellent for converting cable to wireless Book Reviews By Weekly WET610N I bought my Samsung BD-P1600 Blu-ray player. My options are either fixed, because I do not want, or buy a separate dongle from Samsung. I chose the option that Samsung did not mention - I bought WET610N! The device was easy to install and the instructions were clear. I've never been fond of using Linksys CD to install such equipment, but I must say it fast and painless compared to some others I've seen. The value of this device is simply that it will work with any who want a "wired" network connection. So it does not matter if it's a game console, a DVR type device, or in this case a Blu-ray DVD player. For this reason, the device is a great value and will use for a long time, even if the current equipment I use it with the now long gone. 57 of 60 people found the following review helpful quick setup - in 10 minutes E. Linder 31/10/10 Update: This product works properly * * for a year in a row! Highly recommended without reservation! Updated 02/10/09: Update new firmware from Linksys 31/08/09 (I went from 1.0.01 to 1.0.03 today). After applying the new firmware, reported the signal strength increases significantly. Thus, the consistency and reliability of pings (previously estimated to be between 2 ms and 410 ms and an occasional ping will jump - now consistently below 5 ms). I recommend this product, but be sure the firmware 1.0.0.03. This update may resolve some (but not all) issues experienced prior to the reviewers. Initial Review: Quick delivery from Amazon. As much as I fear the Wizard, I'm the wizard on the CD-ROM, which I ran from my laptop, connected wirelessly through the wireless router. Bridge connected to a cable router with Ethernet cable direct wizard to quickly detect available wireless networks (I recommend mine - not my neighbors). I asked for a password (you knew that using WPA2 encryption) to the router (Linksys WRT54G), waited a bit, then assistant told me to disconnect the bridge from the router and then connect the bridge to my remote device (in my case - a home theater in a box) (HTIB) with a wired Ethernet connection. A little later, the setup wizard ended announced. When you're ready to watch streaming Netflix and Pandora to listen to the HTIB. Before running the wizard, I added the MAC address of the bridge (which is in the bottom of the unit) to the allowed list of "PC") in my router list of allowed MAC addresses. Secondly, I made sure I had a sufficient range of DHCP addresses dispensed by the DHCP server on the router (a total of three - one for the laptop, a wireless printer and now added a third for this bridge). Third, I had my router password readily available to provide to the wizard I think that since I was well prepared, the installation was flawless and fast. I totally understand why assistants are used - they are for beginners to easily set up your stuff. In this case I think it took less time the wizard to configure the device than if I had chosen to manually configure the bridge (which is an undocumented option). A beginner would have a fight with a manual configuration, I'm sure. Signal strength indicates the bridge is a little weak for commercial use, but for domestic use which is working great for my application only. You can certainly add more devices on the side of the bridge, connecting the bridge to a switch to provide additional Ethernet ports. Of course, the bridge will pass DHCP information to any device connected to any such switch. And of course, no address required for a (n) switch (unmanaged). The only thing I'm unsure about the longevity of the product. I did have an early Linksys WRT54G totally fail on me, but I'm hoping that having placed my current one on a UPS, this won't happen again I have confidence in current.
